At 3:00 p.m. on April 23, the Hakodate Local Meteorological Observatory officially declared the start of cherry blossom season after confirming that five or more flowers had bloomed on the Somei Yoshino sample tree located in Goryokaku Park, Hakodate.

The Japan Weather Association forecasts that the cherry blossoms in Hakodate will reach full bloom around Sunday, April 27. However, the timing may shift depending on temperature fluctuations.
