Open-air Theater

Hakodate Yagaigeki
Weekends in July 9th - August 7th , 2016
There is an open-air theater in the summer evening at a national special historic site Goryokaku Fort as a stage. It is one of the largest in the country, and a total of 10,000 people in Hakodate play to detail its history from the age of the Ainu people (a minority) through the opening of the port of Hakodate to the wartime, including a large fire. You will be amazed at the dynamic production: a ship goes by in the moat, horses run through the mound of the fort and there is an impressive swordfight. Performing time is about 75 minutes.
